WeeBots Summer Fun

Grade 2-3 in September 2017

Prerequisite WeeBots 1; Intro to Simple Machines

This summer we’ve made some alterations to our WeeBots program. Let’s have some fun with machines. This class time will be a more open learning experience for our WeeBot-ers than we have had in the past. The children will participate in hands-on building and experimentation as they construct their own creations. Children will learn the importance of engineering in their everyday lives whilst not losing sight of all the fun they can have just building with lego.

  • For children who are going into grade 2 or 3 in September 2017
  • WeeBots 1 and/or any WeeBots experience
  • Max. class size of 6

Summer Schedule

Week 8; 1:00 – 3:30pm

E-Bots Level 1

Introductory Level, Grade 4-9 in September 2017

There is nothing more exciting than a new adventure and that is certainly what a child will feel like they are doing when the world of robotics presents itself. Children will learn what a robot is, how it works, and what sensors are available to make it come to life. Sensors will be explained through analysis, experiment and observation. in an interactive environment. Taking this new found knowledge they will be asked to design and program robots that are “tasked” to produce certain results. Their knowledge of the sensors and how to program them will provide the solution to their design and the task their robot has been given. This will be done working in pairs which will compliment their communication skills and interactive group play.

  • Students MUST be going into grade 4 in September 2017
  • No previous experience is required
  • Students will have a partner for most activities and are expected to co-operate and share well
  • Max. class size of 10

Arduino is a technology that is rapidly becoming more popular; we’re even seeing more of at our FLL competitions. The open source platform allows the children to take their new found arduino programming skills and apply them to many different avenues of their school and personal life. At the end of the week the students get to take home their Arduino kits to continue their adventure.

*NEW * FLL PREP

Grade 5-9 in September 2017

In FLL PREP students will get the opportunity to manage themselves as a “team” in a mock FIRST LEGO league season. They will be challenged with a previous seasons table & project. Unlike our Challenge camp this prep class will offer the students a well rounded E-Bots Robotics FLL experience. For half the day students will be in the robot room learning strategies and concepts unique to an FLL robot design, the other half the day the students will be working on a project, learning how to approach and execute a research project.

Unlike our other programs this class is opened to students that have never taken a class with E-Bots before. Our requirements for students from outside E-Bots be that they were previously on an FLL team or if they have never been on a team they must be assessed by one of our coaches.

  • Student must be going into Grade 5-9 in September 2017
  • Students from E-Bots must have taken the E-Bots Level 2 programming class
  • This is a prerequisite to be considered for an E-Bots Robotics FLL Team.
